(The following message was written during a writing meditation
exercise at last Saturday's "Day of Mindfulness" retreat. One of my
friends who was attending was having a difficult time doing the second
part of the exercise. The first part is to write a letter to the
Buddha, or the Universe, or God, or your Higher Self, etc. The second
part is to let the Buddha (or whoever you wrote to) write a letter
back to you, through you. My friend couldn't bring himself to do the
second part. So, I heard my "inner Buddha" encourage me to write it
for him. So, the following is the letter from the Universe to him,
but also to me, and perhaps to you as well. Both my friend and I and
many other friends are going through midlife issues of one sort or
another. Perhaps you are too, or maybe transition issues or
uncertainty issues. Please hear the voice of the Buddha speaking
heart-to-heart with you in this letter. And feel free to forward this
letter to a friend who is going through a time of transition or
uncertainty)
Dear _______________,
You are in an interesting place in your life, a crossroads, midlife.
This is a very powerful and uncertain time. There is much potential
here. I encourage you to utilize this time well, to find out who you
are as a human being, as a spiritual being, as a beautiful expression
of the Universe. This is a time of transition, a time of change, and
you can either meet it with fear or with an open heart. It's up to
you. Choose wisely.
I am here for you. You have all the support and resources that you
need, even if you don't see it yet. The Universe is conspiring for
your good, even if you don't understand it fully yet. I am here for
you.
I am the air that gives you life, I am the friend that happens to call
you just when you need it, I am the raindrops this morning, I am
ChiSing caring about you, and I am your own heart.
You are wiser, you are stronger, you are more than you realize. Open
your heart, and awaken to your inner peace, your kindness and your
joy.
I love you. And I am always here for you.
